This is Ron’s 10th season as Head Golf Professional.  Ron previously worked as the Head Professional at Brownson Country Club and before then he was the Assistant back here at Wethersfield Country Club. Ron was the Head Golf Professional of the year in 2016 and is a past president of the Connecticut Section PGA.  Ron is highly respected among his peers for his golf skills, section involvement and dedication towards growing the game of golf.

Josh is in his fifth season here at Wethersfield. Josh previously taught private lessons before joining the PGA apprentice program. Josh is a skilled golfer with a passion for the game and drive to make people better golfers.

SHOTGUN INSTRUCTION
 
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: This program is open to all members of all skill levels with no sign up necessary. An instructor will be available for complimentary instruction on the practice facility. This program will occur at least once a month and will typically be held in the evening or weekend afternoons.

LADIES GET GOLF READY
 
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Golf is all about having fun. This class is geared around having fun while providing time with the golf instructor to receive a deeper understanding of the short game and golf swing as well as how to prepare to play on the golf course. Beginning golfers, infrequent golfers, and former golfers are all encouraged to be a part of this experience. Classes are held on Tuesday or Thursday evenings starting May 16th at 5:30. Please sign up by emailing Josh. There will also be a Welcome Class for anyone interested or already signed up on Monday May 8th 5:30 at no cost.

LADIES GET GOLF READY 2
 
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: This class is geared around actually playing the game and lowering your scores on the golf course. There will be sessions on short game, full swing, on-course play, and course management. Golfers looking to feel more comfortable playing on the course, as well as beginning to intermediate golfers looking to lower their scores, are encouraged to participate in this class. Classes are during the week at 5:30.

Lesson Two - Pitching distance & trajectory control  (July 18th 5:30-6:30)
 
Lesson Three - Escaping Trouble

MEMBER – GUEST CLINICS
 
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: This new program is a great way to introduce a friend or client to our wonderful club, as well as receive instruction for ones own golf game.  Each session will focus on many of the different aspects of golf.  All skill levels are welcome to partake in this non-intimidating and relaxed golf clinic. Clinics will be held monthly with limited space, thus please sign up ahead of time by emailing jsdetmer@gmail.com.

PUTTING BOOT CAMP
 
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: This program is open to all members and skill levels. Through practice drills and training aids instructors will improve putting skills, knowledge, and practice routines. Boot camps will be broken down into different sessions throughout the year. Session will focus on the four elements of putting, eliminating 3 putts, making the “make able putts”, distance control, and more. Email jsdetmer@gmail.com to sign up, as space is limited to 6 people per session.
 
Session 1- The 4 Elements of Putting
This session is for any skill level and will introduce the four elements of putting: Set-up, Path, Impact, and Speed. Through the use of training aids and drills students will discover the best ways to improve their putting. 
Date: May 19th 5:00-6:00
           
Session 2 – SET UP and PATH
This session dives deeper into the two putting elements: Set Up and Path. Through several evaluations students will be guided to the proper set up for their style preference. Drills and training aids will be performed to work on the proper putting path, which will help provide good practice routines.
Date: June 10th 1:30-2:30
 
Session 3 – SPEED and IMPACT
This session is for anyone looking to improve distance control through speed drills and training aids. The second focus is on making more close and mid range putts by creating the proper impact position. When speed and impact are paired together you create the best chance to hole putts.
Date: June 17th 1:30-2:30

PGA SPORTS ACADEMY
 
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: This is a fun program available for all juniors of all skill levels ages 5-17. With three different skill levels (Player, Sport, Champion) students will be placed in the appropriate level and given the opportunities to progress through each level. The goal is to provide the juniors with pathways to continue to play golf socially or competitively based on the individual’s desire.  During each session juniors will experience a variety of games, drills, exercises, evaluations with five core focus areas:
  • Fitness and Nutrition
  • Golf Skills
  • Sportsmanship, Etiquette, and Rules
  • Golf and “Near Golf” Experiences
  • Golf and Skills Challenge.

KIDS SUMMER CAMP
 
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: This program is structured for children/grandchildren of member’s and focuses on having fun while learning basic golf skills. The kids will learn through fun interactive games and near golf experiences. At the completion of the camp kids will receive their own golf starters kit to prepare them for the course and practice.
Time: July 18th, 19th and 20th from 9:00-12:00
